Once upon a time…
there was a girl from a little town in Georgia, who dreamed of a life far beyond the dollar menu at McDonald’s and the ever impending doom of her parental situation. She was the brightest in her class, and every single one of her teachers expected her to break the cycle. Where is she now? Is she president? A famous author, perhaps? Maybe she just launched her startup tech company, or joined the peace choir and is off hugging trees in foreign lands.
Quite the opposite, if you were wondering. Like most, she met a guy in a bar, and it was all downhill from there. But there is one good thing that she got out of her two year encounter with local barhopping and brief alcoholism- a baby boy. So now she’s 23, living in the same place she swore she’d leave, with a toddler and a job that barely pays the bills, trying to get her English degree so she can do whofuckingknows with it. I forgot to mention that she’s a natural blonde- at least she’s got that going for her. Oh yeah, there was one other thing that I forgot to mention.
She has- I kid you not- the best friends in the whole world.
So yeah, no, she hasn’t broken the cycle all the way just yet. Some would say that she’s actually a mess. I am her, she is me- I’m Sally.
This is my blog. The stories that I tell are 100% true, with name changes and slight improvements, if only to keep my friends from getting the felony charges that I’m shocked to find that most of them don’t already have.
It won’t be for everyone. Actually, this is just for me. Read if you will, scroll if you want, but please, for the love of God, touch some grass today.
Every Thursday at 10am Eastern Standard Time.
